We are a church for families

Whether you are a family of crying babies, active young toddlers, older teenagers, a single parent, or something else, FBC Salem is a place where you will be welcomed and supported. Our Sunday worship service is family-friendly. Childcare for young kids is offered (see below).

Every child is loved by God and was made in His image

That’s a core conviction of ours. We desire each man, woman, and child (all created in the image of God) to have the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and to experience His love and grace personally. Jesus even seems to have a special preference for children! He says, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3). We all have a lot to learn from children then and need to pursue having the faith of a child - in purity, genuineness, joy, and eagerness.

For families with young children (~ages 2-10)

We provide care for children on Sundays! Below is the simple way we provide care for your family on Sunday mornings:

  • Children are with their families during the beginning of the worship service at 10:30am - We want children to sing along with their parents, hear the prayers, and experience the beauty of the inter-generational community.

  • We have a “Children’s Moment” during the worship service - After singing, we have a biblical children’s story for children, and we invite them to come sit in the front.

  • Age-specific Bible teaching, and separate time for play and activities - After the children’s story, our children’s ministry team walks the children upstairs to the Children’s Wing, where they have a time of guided play, do an activity or craft, and learn the truths of the Bible in an age-specific way.

  • Parents then pick-up their children at the conclusion of the worship service - This enables parents to engage with the sermon, and for children to be cared for by other caring adults who love Jesus.

What materials do you use to teach children?

As of May 2023, we are using the Gospel Project for Kids curriculum for our children’s ministry. The Gospel Project is a weekly Bible study that helps kids dive deep into the big story of the Bible—God’s plan to rescue His people through His Son, Jesus Christ. Learn more below.

What safeguards do you have to ensure my children will be safe and protected?

This is such an important question. We have a full Child Protection Policy that you are welcome to read through. Simply click on the yellow link. The care of your children is our number one priority.
